Paul Oliva is an international communications and business strategy consultant.  His public relations consultancy in San Francisco builds upon a career stretching from program development to strategy and from traditional public relations and media relations to corporate social responsibility, issues management, international trade policy, and government relations.   He is recognized as a leader in helping organizations enhance reputation and grow through effective communications, particularly through strategic partnership relationships.

From 2000 to 2005, Oliva was director for global corporate relations at Visa International. He was responsible for developing and managing Visa’s global stakeholder relations program and managing external communications for business-to-business solutions, consumer  products, and transaction processing solutions including the VisaNet global  payments engine.  Mr. Oliva was integral to Visa’s corporate engagement with economic development initiatives, building  relationships and programs with major organizations, including the World  Economic Forum and the UN.  Paul worked directly with Visa’s CEO and other senior executives and led  strategies to reach the financial services industry, merchants, cardholders,  technology developers, and government and corporate Visa users

Mr. Oliva was a founder and the executive director of BAYTRADE, an international trade development alliance formed by the San Francisco-based Bay Area Economic Forum. He also founded and managed TradePort LLC, an international trade online information service, and was instrumental in the creation of CalTrade, a statewide alliance to promote sound international trade programs and policies.

He holds an M.A. in International Affairs from the Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in International Studies from the University of the Pacific. Paul speaks German and Italian.
